About Ryan Danks
Ryan began his martial arts journey the way most did in the late ’80s, trying to become a G.I. Joe or Ninja Turtle. He trained in Tae Kwon Do briefly before heading to Muay Thai. After that, it was Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, Kali, Karate, Wushu…
Over his three decades of training, Ryan has gained a black belt in Karate and a teaching certification in Jeet Kune Do. However, he found that such titles mattered little — gaining the actual rank did nothing to improve his skill — so he stopped caring about them. Styles like Muay Thai didn’t even have ranks, so why bother? Instead, he opted for what he calls the Ronin’s Path, or what Bruce Lee would have called “having no way as the way.”
Through IntrepidMartialArts.com, Ryan hopes to help others enjoy the journey of exploring the martial arts.
